The Austin Children’s Choir Internship Program provides opportunities for Music Education students at Texas State University to work with children in a choral setting prior to their Student Teaching Internship at the conclusion of their degree. This will help prepare the interns for a career in music and give the choir a chance to work with a variety of conductors.
Sarah Hernandez (Head Intern)
Sarah Hernandez is a junior music studies major at Texas State University. This will be her second year with the Austin Children’s Choir. Sarah’s passions are choral music and teaching, and hopes to share the joy of music with as many people as possible! In addition to her music education studies, Sarah is heavily involved in the opera scene at Texas State. In her time at the university, she has been a part of two choral ensembles, been a chorus member for two operas, and this fall will play her first lead role in La Curandera by Rodriguez. Sarah is looking forward to spending another year with the Austin Children’s Choir building musicianship and having fun making music!
Victoria Furlan is excited to start her first year as an intern with the Austin Children’s Choir. She is a junior at Texas State University and is majoring in music education and minoring in math. She sings with the University Singers and with the Opera, as a chorus member and as a cover, at Texas State. She also sings with the St. David’s Episcopal Church in Austin. She hopes to be a middle school choir director when she graduates.
