Hello Choir Families!
Congratulations on completing your first week of rehearsals for the Austin Children’s Choir!
After Tuesday and Thursday, I walked away completely exhausted, but thrilled with the sound of your young ladies and gentlemen. One never knows exactly what a choir is going to sound like until you get into the season; however, I can already tell we are going to be quite the force this season!
Several of you have asked what you can do outside of rehearsals to better prepare your children. First, make sure they have plenty of rest and are drinking plenty of water. Second, make sure they are using their voice properly throughout the week (avoiding yelling, clearing their throats, whispering, etc.). Third, make sure they complete their outside assignments (don’t be alarmed, nothing has been assigned yet). Outside assignments will generally consist of memorizing texts. It is my hope to get practice recordings out to you soon so your child can review their individual part. These small elements make our rehearsal much smoother.
I am going to make every effort to write you a weekly email after our rehearsals on Thursday evenings (which now take place at a new time, from 6-8) so you have a report on your child’s progress.
As I said in the meeting, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or call me anytime.
Looking forward to a great season, with best wishes, I remain,
